  CLINICS

Mostly during the Castilian winter, although it can be arranged in other times of the year, Salvador also gives Eventing and Dressage clinics in different parts of the world and at different levels. His last lessons have been in California, South Africa and England

In April 2007 I journeyed to Pedraza, Spain to train with Salvador Fabregas. During my first dressage lesson, I recognized that Salvador is a unique instructor with a keen understanding and skill, bringing the rider into harmony with the horse - quickly. To experience riding schoolmaster Iberian horses - to "dance" across the arena was such an amazing experience that, at the conclusion of my stay, I expressed my desire to sponsor a clinic in Northern California. I met with our chapter of the California Dressage society, telling them of my experience in Spain, and without any hesitation, knew, if they took this opportunity, they would each reach a new level of skill with their horse that, most likely, they had not experienced.

Initially, I set up a limited booking for the five-day clinic- six individual private lessons plus jumping sessions of four students. Salvador arrived Friday night -The clinic was to begin on Monday. Additional riders started calling Saturday morning - please can we train today? So, the clinic started Saturday.  Within two days of his teaching, the booking became 17 riders! The program was extended to accommodate everyone - night sessions as well. Where students had signed up for one lesson - they wanted five sessions. Salvador enthusiastically welcomed the opportunity.

The comments were dramatic "Salvador has changed our lives! He has brought us to new levels no other trainer ever achieved or believed/let us do!" One Prix St. George student / trainer  - for the first time - Ever - performed the most brilliant ride of her lifetime - reaching a new level of expression and talent. She was exuberant. Salvador's expertise has a key ingredient - encouragement - and instilling within his students the DESIRE to work harder, better, communicating more effectively with their horses. The result was harmony. The language between the horse and rider transformed these individuals - they now realized dimensionally, they could reach new heights - and enjoy it so much more. Coupled with new skills, each progressed at an accelerated speed.

Salvador was able, with such a variety of riders and their horses, in a very limited timeframe, to open the door for these riders to see the possibilities and set new goals.

How do you quantify such a remarkable experience?

Without ANY hesitation, I recommend to any seasoned or aspiring equestrian - whether Three day eventing, or the individual aspects - Dressage, jumping, cross country - take this opportunity to train with Salvador.  This experience will, without any doubt, encourage each person to go further in the art of horsemanship.

Seventeen riders - The success of the clinic is summoned up in the question - "When will Salvador return?"

Sorry its taken me so long to respond to the email you sent Coreen - I have been away. I had a huge amount of fun in my session with Salvador and learnt a lot. I would love to see him again next time he comes out. He really pushed me to do jumps I would not normally have done, given that I have just started eventing and was amazed at my own capabilities. I have immediately upgraded to Novice and hope to be intermediate next season.

Salvador’s lessons were fantastic!! Affordable, confidence building, challenging within the rider’s and the horse’s scope and ability with a good variety of cross country obstacles being covered.

Kind regards,

I think it is very difficult for an international instructor (when English is not his first language) to come in for an hour and make a difference to your ride.

I thought that Salvador was fantastic, he didn’t try to change your ride, just improve on it.  If you come away with just having learnt 1 thing different I think that is an accomplishment.  I would never have jumped a gymnastic like we did and I felt that my confidence was certainly lifted.  I enjoyed the lesson thoroughly.

To be constructive, I think having a lesson late on a Sunday wasn’t ideal and if we had an idea of what he wanted to go through with us – like gymnastic work, we could have built something beforehand which would have saved on time.

Look forward to next time.
